Overview

Kooli KopliOn the island of Saaremaa, Estonia, accommodation all year round in Kooli Kopli farmhouse, in Vanakubja village, hosted by Finns. The houses are in the middle of peaceful and beautiful nature and surrounded by an orchard.

On the estate there is an old Estonian farm house from early 20th century. Furthermore, there is another accommodation building, the Pioner house, and a sauna building, which were built during the soviet occupation era. All houses have been renovated lately. In all buildings there is a kitchen or kitchenette. WC and dry toilets are in separate buildings, except the apartments in the Old Farm House have own WCs. Also a barbecuing shed and a smoker are at visitors' disposal for preparing meals. Sauna and smokesauna are heated by advance booking.

A horse stable was built a decade ago. For the time being there are 4 horses and a Shetland pony on the farm. Horseback-riding along the winding roads, on the meadows and in the woods of Mustjala for experienced riders is arranged according to advance booking. For the Shetland pony there is a weight limit of 30 kg.

Recently a hundred years old Estonian farm loghouse has been relocated from a nearby village to Kooli Kopli and rebuilt as the new main building of the estate. In the house there are conference facilities for 30 persons.

From Mustjala you can easily make daytrips with car or bicycle to places worth seeing. Nearest place for swimming is 4 km from Kooli Kopli, a nature beach by the Küdema bay. Another long beach with sand dunes is at Tagalaht Bay, 12 km to west. The nearby nature is rich: in late summer there are plenty of berries and mushrooms in the forests, lucky ones may even observe wild animals such as deer, fox and wild boar. However, you should be prepared for mosquitos, too.

How to reach Kooli Kopli: From Kuivastu harbour to Kooli Kopli it is 95 km along the scenic Northern coastroad of Saaremaa via Orissaare and Leisi villages (via Kuressaare 105 km). When driving via Kuressaare take road to direction "Kihelkonna", drive 8 km and turn right at the sign "Mustjala 21 km". After passing Mustjala village and church there is a crossing, continue straight ahead to direction "Tagaranna" for 100 metres, turn right at the sign "Kooli Kopli Holiday Home". The road, 400 metres, ends in the courtyard.

There is also a bus connection between Kuressaare and Mustjala 1-4 times daily, for details see "Links".

Ferry between mainland and Saaremaa Island (Virtsu-Kuivastu) sails 1-2 times in an hour and takes 25 minutes, tickets you can buy also in advance from the internet (see Links: Tuulelaevad). You can take the ferry to Hiiumaa Island also from Saaremaa 2-3 times a day, Triigi harbour in Leisi village, 40 km from Mustjala.

There is even a flight connection between Tallinn and Kuressaare town, Saaremaa, daily, flight time is 40 min., cheapest ticket fare is 26 euros, for details see "Links".
